Frequently Asked NDIS Questions

Can I use my NDIS funding to buy ByStorm products?

Yes, if they are reasonable and necessary for your support needs. ByStorm products are low-cost assistive technology (AT) and do not need a quote or OT report, because each item costs under $1,500.

What does “low-cost AT” mean in plain English?

Low-cost assistive technology is language used by the NDIS. Any assistive technology (AT) item that costs under $1,500 per item counts as low-cost AT.

What makes it “low-cost” beyond just the price?
  • It’s easy to use and doesn’t need specialised installation or professional setup.
  • It’s usually “off-the-shelf” rather than custom-made.
  • It doesn’t usually need an OT (occupational therapist) report or quote.
  • It is low risk — there is little chance it will cause injury or need complicated maintenance or training.
What NDIS code are these claimed under?

ByStorm products are claimed under support item 03_090000911_0103_1_1 — Low Cost AT – Personal Care and Safety. This sits in the Consumables category of your Core budget. We include this code on every NDIS invoice so your plan manager (or the portal) can process it without questions.

When will my products be shipped if paying with NDIS funding?

If you are plan managed or NDIA managed:

  • Your items ship when we receive payment from your plan manager or the NDIA.
  • This can take a few weeks depending on their processing time. We will keep you updated along the way.

If you are self managed:

  • Pay upfront and your items ship straight away.
  • We send a receipt and a paid invoice so you can claim it back in the NDIS portal.
