Why we made this

Beauty was built for one kind of hand. Everyone else got left out. So we made soft grips that snap onto the makeup you already own, easier to open, hold and apply. Designed with disabled people, not just for them. Because beauty should work for every hand.

Meet our founder, Storm

Storm didn’t set out to build a beauty brand. She was just trying to do her makeup after breaking her dominant hand. Born with mild CP, it was the first time she realised beauty wasn’t made for hands that work differently. So she designed tools that are easier to hold, open, and apply, with lived experience at the centre.

Our story
ByStorm Margie red adaptive makeup grip tool holding a lipstick, held by a bionic arm alongside a natural hand.

Created with lived experience, not guesswork.

ByStorm tools aren’t dreamed up in a boardroom. They’re shaped by real people who know what it feels like when beauty isn’t accessible. Co-design is the backbone of everything we build: we listen, test, and refine until our community says, “Yes. This works.”

Our commitment to accessibility

Frequently asked questions

  • ByStorm makes accessible beauty tools we call ‘makeup accessories’ ( because its heaps cuter than ‘grip-aid’) that make makeup easier to hold, open, and apply. Our tools slide onto the products you already love to give your hands more comfort, steadiness, and control.

  • No! anyone can use them. Our grips are designed for people who find makeup fiddly, slippery, or hard to hold for any reason. Lots of our community experience things like hand fatigue, wrist pain, tremors, arthritis or have reduced finger curl — and many just want a comfier hold. Some people in our community identify with having a disability or Chronic illness and some people dont!

  • They fit most mascaras, lipsticks, glosses, brow gels, concealers, brushes, and nail polishes between 15–25 mm in diameter - basically anything that is round and cylindrical that is difficult to grip.
Not sure if your favourite product is compatible? Check our Product Compatibility Checker to find out!

  • Just slide the grip over your product and use them like you would usually. Both Betty and Margie provide extra surfaces making your products easier to hold and control for anyone that struggles with small products. They are made from a soft, non-slip silicon that makes your makeup application feel steadier and easier to apply.

  • Betty has a round, palm-friendly grip that works best for people who can still curl their fingers. Margie has a flat, paddle-shaped grip when fingers don’t curl as easily. They fit the same products — just different shapes for different hands.

  • Yes! if the product meets your disability-related needs. We are NDIS registered so we can assist any plan management type - NDIA managed, self managed, and plan-managed.
