Because beauty wasn’t made for all of us. So we made our own.
It started long before 2023 — with cerebral palsy and a lifetime of adapting without even knowing it.
The real wake-up call came when I (hi, I’m Storm!) injured my hand and couldn’t grip a makeup brush or open a tube. Beauty didn’t feel beautiful anymore — it felt impossible. And when I searched for tools to help, I found nothing.
No mascara grips. No accessible handles that felt like they belonged in a beauty bag — or were good enough for my community.
i turned to my community of disabled friends, carers, support workers and asked about their experience with beauty and one answer i'll never forget.
“Makeup isn’t made for people like me — because no one thinks I could be beautiful.”
That moment changed everything.
So, I did what any frustrated beauty nerd would do- I grabbed some clay, watched too many YouTube videos about 3D-modelling and started designing with people who lived it.
The first tools were rough. (And kind of ugly, if we’re honest.)
But we kept testing — with disabled friends, OT's, support workers, chronic pain warriors and anyone who’d ever said, “this isn’t working for me.” Together, we shaped what became ByStorm adaptive makeup tools that are easy to hold, safe to use, and (most importantly) still fun, stylish, and unapologetically beautiful.
Make beauty accessible!
No compromises. No pity parties. No dull beige medical devices pretending to be cool.
We’re not “fixing” people. We’re fixing the tools.
